Senior Banquet Review

다음은 지난 토요일에 진행된 시니어 연회(Senior Banquet) 사진들입니다.

후배들이 선배들로부터 받은 격려와 도움에 대해 나누는 모습을 보며, 저에게도 매우 따뜻하고 감동적인 시간이었습니다. 또한 큰 격려를 받는 시간이기도 했습니다. 그 자리에 함께했던 청소년부의 어린 학생들 역시 이러한 본을 보며, 앞으로 자신들도 의도적으로 후배들에게 좋은 영향을 끼치고 섬기는 사람이 되기를 소망합니다.

 

Youth PTA Meeting

학년의 마무리는 우리 청소년부 PTA 그룹의 한 해 사역이 마무리되는 시기이기도 합니다. 지난 한 해 동안 박연선 전도사님과 영숙 자매님께서는 PTA를 이끌며 리더십 수련회, 해변 나들이, NCYC, 발렌타인 연회, 그리고 앞서 소개한 시니어 연회 등 다양한 행사와 활동을 섬겨 주셨습니다. 청소년부가 원활하게 운영될 수 있도록 수고해 주신 두 분과, 여러 모양으로 함께 도와주신 모든 부모님들께 진심으로 감사드립니다.

 

이번 PTA 모임에서는 박숙영 집사님과 유효진 집사님께서 2026–27학년도 PTA 섬김을 맡아 주시기로 자원해 주셨습니다.

모임 중에도 말씀드렸듯이, 저의 소망과 기도는 청소년부 학부모님들, 교사들, 그리고 저 자신이 더욱 긴밀하게 협력하는 관계로 성장하는 것입니다. 우리 모두의 공통된 목표는 자녀들이 행복하고, 건강하며, 균형 있게 성장하여 그리스도의 제자로 살아가도록 돕는 것이기 때문입니다.

올해 PTA의 주요 목표는 강요나 또래 압박의 문화가 아닌, 기도와 협력의 문화를 세우는 것입니다. 서로를 격려하고 함께 기도하며 사역하는 가운데, 우리 자녀들이 하나님의 은혜롭고 사랑이 많으신 마음을 보고 배우며, 하나님의 백성 가운데 교제하는 기쁨을 경험할 수 있기를 소망합니다.

 

Summer Retreat

수련회 등록비 납부 마감은 6월 14일(주일) 밤 11시 59분까지입니다. 하지만 가능하시다면 **6월 7일(주일)**까지 온라인 등록 양식을 통해 먼저 등록해 주시기를 부탁드립니다. 이번 주 안에 캠프 측에 참가 학생 명단을 제출해야 하기 때문입니다.

Summer Prayer Meetings

또한 지난 여름과 마찬가지로, 여름방학 동안 학생들의 일정에 비교적 여유가 있는 점을 고려하여 청소년부에서는 격주 수요일 저녁 7시부터 9시까지 기도회를 진행할 예정입니다. 이 모임은 교제와 기도에 초점을 맞추어 진행되며, 구체적인 일정은 아래 표를 참고해 주시기 바랍니다. 하루 12시간씩 화면만 바라보며 시간을 보내는 여름이 되기보다, 우리 자녀들이 하나님께 더 가까이 나아가고 서로를 더욱 사랑하는 법을 배울 수 있는 기회를 최대한 제공하고자 합니다.

Wednesday 7-9pm June 17th, June 24th, July 15th, July 29th, August 12th	Summer Prayer Nights	이 여름 기도 모임은 기도를 더 배우고 싶거나, 기도 생활이 성장하기를 원하는 누구에게나 열려 있는 특별한 교제와 기도의 시간입니다.

 

기도 제목

• 여름철 청소년부 교제 및 기도 모임을 위해 기도해 주십시오. 이 모임을 통해 학생들의 마음에 믿음의 씨앗이 심겨지고 풍성한 열매를 맺게 되기를 바랍니다. 또한 학생들이 기도의 습관을 배우고, 어려움과 스트레스를 만날 때 하나님께 나아가는 법을 익히게 되기를 소망합니다.

• 새롭게 섬기게 될 PTA 리더십과 그들에게 맡겨진 사역을 위해 기도해 주십시오. 청소년 자녀들과 부모 세대 사이에는 문화적, 세대적, 언어적 차이가 존재하며, 이를 연결하는 일은 결코 쉽지 않습니다. 청소년부 교사들은 그 간극을 메우는 다리 역할을 감당하도록 부름받았지만, 때로는 교사들 역시 같은 어려움을 경험합니다. 하나님께서 우리에게 지혜와 은혜를 주셔서 자녀들을 잘 섬기고 양육할 수 있도록 기도해 주십시오.

• 새로운 청소년부 교사 모집을 위해 기도해 주십시오. 아동 안전을 위해 모든 교실에 성인 두 명 이상이 함께 있도록 하는 것을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 현재는 교사 한 명이 부족한 상황입니다. 또한 과밀 상태인 11학년·12학년 통합반을 분리하려면 추가로 두 명의 교사가 더 필요합니다.

• 다가오는 여름 수련회를 위해 기도해 주십시오. 올해는 참가 학생 수가 많지 않을 수 있다는 우려가 있지만, 저는 하나님께서 보내시고자 하는 학생들을 보내 주실 것이며, 여행이나 다른 일정으로 참석하지 못하는 학생들에게도 필요한 은혜를 공급해 주실 것을 믿습니다.
  올해 수련회의 주제는 “Satisfied(만족)” 입니다. 이 주제는 우리의 기쁨과 평안이 사람들에게서 받는 인기나 학업·직장의 성공, 사회적 지위, 혹은 돈에서 오는 것이 아니라 하나님과의 관계에서 온다는 사실을 기억하게 하기 위한 것입니다. 참석하는 학생들이 참된 만족을 발견하고, 이를 통해 우리 청소년부가 하나님을 더욱 깊이 사랑하게 되도록 함께 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.

Senior Banquet Review

These are some pictures from the senior banquet that was held this past Saturday. One of the things that separated this year’s senior banquet from previous years was that this year some students shared short ‘toasts’ for specific seniors. It was a sweet time where I was able to hear stories about how each of the seniors  impacted their younger siblings with their kindness, positive example, or mentorship. It was a truly touching and encouraging time of sharing. I hope that each of the younger youth members who were present would see these examples and desire to intentionally impact the younger students even more. 

Youth PTA Meeting

The end of the school year marks the end of another cycle of our PTA group. Last year, 박연선 전도사님 and 영숙자매님 led the PTA through many events and activities including a Leader’s Retreat, a Beach Trip, NCYC, Valentines Banquet, and the Senior Banquet mentioned above. We are extremely grateful for their service and all of your help in making the youth group run smoothly. During the PTA Meeting 박숙영 집사님 and 유효진 집사님 volunteered to serve in the 2026-27 school year. As I mentioned during the meeting, my hope and prayer is that we can grow the partnership between myself, the youth teachers, and the youth parents to help each other in our common goal of raising our children to be happy, healthy, well adjusted disciples of Christ. The main objectives of our PTA this year is to develop a culture of prayer and collaboration, instead of one of coercion and peer pressure. In this way I hope that we can display for the kids the gracious and loving heart of our God and the joy of being in fellowship among his people.   

Summer Retreat

The payment deadline is Sunday, June 14th at 11:59pm, but if at all possible, please register by Sunday, June 7th through the online sign up form. I need to submit a manifest of attending students to the camp this upcoming week.

Summer Prayer Meetings

Just like last summer, since many of the students are more free during their summer vacation, the youth group will be hosting a prayer meeting every other Wednesday evening from 7pm to 9pm where the focus will be on fellowship and prayer. The specific dates are listed on the table below. Instead of letting this be a summer of 12 hour/day screen-time brain rot, let us give our children every opportunity to grow closer to God and learn to love one another better.

Prayer Requests

• Pray for our youth summer fellowship and prayer nights to plant seeds and bear fruit. I hope that it can help teach and develop a habit of prayer in our students so that they can use it to run to God in times of difficulty and stress.  

• Pray for our new PTA leadership and the task that lies before them. It is difficult to bridge the cultural, generational, and language gap between our youth children and the parents. The youth teachers are meant to act as a bridge to span that gap, but those same barriers often exist for the teachers as well. May God help us to reach our children with wisdom and with his grace. 

• Pray for new youth teacher recruitment. We want to have two adults per classroom for child safety purposes. Right now we are lacking one. However, we need two more teachers if we want to be able to split up our overcrowded joint 11th and 12th grade class.

• Pray for the upcoming summer retreat. Many people are concerned that there will not be many youth students participating. However, I believe that God will send whom he desires to send, and that he is able to provide for exactly what is needed to those who are unable to participate due to traveling or other responsibilities as well. The theme of this year’s retreat is “Satisfied”, meant to remind us that our joy and peace isn’t from our popularity among people, our success in our work, our status, nor our money, but in our relationship with God. Let us pray that the students who are able to attend would find this satisfaction, and that our youth group would grow more deeply in love with God because of it.
