Dear church,

Summer vacation is coming to an end and the kids will be back in school by the end of the month. As we send our children back into the rhythms of school, lets pray for their academic success and their relationships with their friends to grow healthier and stronger. May God use them in their sports teams, clubs, and friend groups to be the salt and light in this world.

What is going on in the Youth group?

As you’re reading this newsletter, the majority of our youth kids will be at the youth retreat. Many people have been faithfully praying over this event, including you all (the parents), the youth teachers, the retreat volunteers, and the praise team members. Our desire is that the retreat does not simply become a happy, fun memory, but that it would be a real encounter with the living God. In the future when the kids are facing difficult situations or hard decisions, I pray that they would be able to come back to the things they learned and experienced in the retreat to remind them of who God is and who we are before him. This year, we have great turn out with forty-four students attending (our weekly attendance is about forty-five). Please pray for everyone to stay safe and healthy during the retreat so we can focus on experiencing God in our retreat. When your children come back from the retreat, please ask them what they learned and how they experienced God’s grace while they were away.

For those of you who could not send your kids to the retreat this time, do not worry! We will not send our kids off to school without doing one last summer event. On Saturday, August 26^th we will hold a Back-to-School Barbecue at church for lunch at 11:00am – 2:00pm. Please be on the lookout for a sign up sheet so that we can prepare enough food for everyone coming. We are encouraging the youth students to invite their friends from school as well. The intention is for our children to be a gateway for our entire church to be more intentional in spreading the Good News of the Kingdom to unbelieving families in our communities.

How we are Growing

The SALT team met for the first time last month and everyone was on the same page about wanting to grow in maturity and holiness in Christ and pray for our youth group to develop leaders. The first youth-EM dawn service happened on August 5^th, and we saw a great turn out. Praise team is also anticipating to grew by one member – a keyboardist - this year.

Besides these activities, the Sunday school classes recently hosted a Seminar activity for High school students on 7/30 and Middle School students on 7/23. The focus of the high school seminar was on the reliability of scripture, while the middle school students attempted to memorize all the books of the Bible. The High school students had a great time with their seminar. However, the Middle school may need another practice attempt. ???? The purpose of these seminars is to increase the general Biblical knowledge of the youth students at Hanmaum in order to improve our ability to study scripture well. Please pray for us to improve in this area in order to equip our kids to face questions about faith without fear.

Speaker Bio: Caleb Wade   “Hi! My name is Caleb Wade and I was born and still live in Louisburg, NC. I have three younger sisters who are 15, 14, and 11. I am a rising junior at the College at Southeastern in the 5 year BA/MDiv in Pastoral Ministry program, also known as the Timothy Scholars.   When I’m not busy with school, I work in HVAC. Some of my hobbies are playing piano, watching a good movie, and philosophy. I have been dating a girl named Jenna, who is studying to be a nurse, for little over a year now. I go to Faith Baptist Church where I have been a member for 5 years. I serve at Faith on the youth and adult worship teams, teach the rising 9th grade Sunday class, and Wednesday night youth meetings where I have had many opportunities to teach both middle school and high school.   The Lord has called me to full time ministry and my desire and gifting are tilted towards pastoral ministry in a church plant/revitalization context either in the states or overseas.”   Theme: “Fear and Trembling” Philippians 2:2:12-13 Location: Camp Oak Hill and Retreat Center 1528 State Rd 1410, Oxford, NC 27565   We will leave from church after youth service and return to church after lunch.
Back to School Barbecue		Saturday August 26th 11:00am – 2:00pm
We will be preparing burgers and hotdogs on a grill for the kids to enjoy one last Summer afternoon before heading back to school. Encourage them to invite friends from school and we will all enjoy a fun and relaxing afternoon together.

• Please pray for the youth students to meet God at the retreat.
• Please pray for the youth teachers as they prepare to minister to the students as they return into their classrooms this year.
• Please pray for the SALT team to be encouraged and grow in holiness as we learn what Christian leadership looks like together and how they can play a significant role in building God’s church.

성도님들께,

여름방학도 이제 끝나가고, 학생들이 이번 달 말이면 학교로 돌아갑니다. 자녀들이 학교생활로 돌아가면서, 학생들이 학교 생활을 잘하고, 친구들과의 관계가 건강하게 자랄 수 있도록 기도해 주세요. 또한 자녀들이 스포츠 팀, 클럽, 친구그룹 가운데서, 이 세상에서 빛과 소금의 직분을 잘 할수 있도록 하나님께서 사용하여 주시길 기도합니다.

유스 그룹의 활동들

이 뉴스레터를 읽고 계실즈음에, 대부분의 유스는 수련회를 참석하고 있을 것입니다. (대니 전도사님께서 이 뉴스레터를 월요일에 보내 주셨는데, 제가 이제야 번역을 하게 되어서 죄송합니다) 부모님들을 포함해서, 유스 선생님들, 수련회 자원봉사자들, 찬양팀원들 등 많은 분들이 이 수련회를 위해서 열심히 기도해 주셨습니다. 저희의 바램은 수련회가 단순히 재미있고, 즐거운 기억이 아니라, 살아계신 하나님과 만남의 시간이 되는 것입니다. 나중에 우리 자녀들이 어려운 상황이나, 힘든 결정을 내려야 할 때, 수련회에서 배우고 경험한 것들을 기억하고, 하나님이 누구시며, 우리가 하나님앞에서 누구인지 확인할 수 있길 바랍니다. 이번해에는 44명의 학생이 참여하여서 대부분의 학생들이 참여하였습니다. (저희 주일 참석수가 45명입니다) 자녀들이 수련회에서 돌아왔을 때, 무엇을 배웠는지 하나님의 은혜를 어떻게 경험했는지 물어봐 주시기 바랍니다.

이번 수련회에 자녀들을 못 보내신 분들은 또 한 번의 기회가 있습니다. 학교로 돌아가기 전에 또 한 번의 여름 이벤트가 있을 것입니다. 8월 26일 토요일 11시 - 2시에 교회에서 Back to school 바베큐 파티를 열게 됩니다. 싸인업 용지가 곧 나가게 되니, 신청해 주셔서 저희가 음식을 얼마나 준비해야 할지 알려 주시기 바랍니다. 학생들에게 학교 친구들을 초청하도록 격려하고 있습니다. 저희 학생들이 하나님의 나라 복음을 안믿는 가족과 친구들과 나누는데 더 적극적이 되길 바랍니다. 

이렇게 성장하고 있습니다.

SALT 팀이 지난 달에 처음으로 만났는데, 학생들 모두가 예수님 안에서 성장하고 거룩함에서 자라며, 유스 그룹에서 리더들이 나오기를 기도하는 마음이 동일했습니다. 또한 처음으로 유스와 이엠 새벽기도회를 가졌는데, 많은 학생들이 참여했습니다. 찬양팀도 키보디스트 한 명이 더 죠인하게 되었습니다.

이 외에도, 주일 학교 그룹에서 고등학생들을 위해서 7/30에, 중학생들을 위해서는 7/23에 세미나를 가졌습니다. 고등학생들 세미나는 성경의 신뢰성에 대한 것이었고, 중학생들은 성경의 책 이름을 외우는 것이었습니다. 중학생들은 한 번 더 시도해야 다 외울 수 있을 것 같습니다. 이 세미나들의 목적은, 한마음 유스 학생들의 일반적인 성경의 지식을 늘려서 성경을 이해하는 능력을 돕는 것입니다. 이 부분을 위해서 계속 기도해 주셔서, 우리 학생들이 두려움 없이 믿음의 문제들을 대면할 수 있도록 훈련되길 바랍니다.

Speaker Bio: Caleb Wade   “제 이름은 Caleb Wade 이고, 저는 Louisburg, NC 에서 태어나고 자랐습니다. 저는 여동생들이 (15, 14, and 11살) 3명이 있고, 저는 대학교 이번해에 대학교 3학년이 됩니다. 제가 하는 프로그램은 디모데 학자라고도 불리는, BA와 신학석사과정을 5년에 마치는 프로그램입니다.   학교일로 바쁘지 않을 때는, HVAC (냉난방 관련된 기술자) 에서 일합니다. 제 취미는 피아노, 좋은 영화보기, 철학책 읽기 등입니다. 저는 Jenna 라는 여자친구와 1년 조금 넘게 교제하고 있고, 제 여자친구는 간호를 공부하고 있습니다. 저는 5년동안 Faith Baptist Church에서 신앙생활을 하고 있습니다. 유스와 성인 찬양팀에서 섬기고 있고, 9학년 반을 가르치고 있고, 중학생과 고등학생들이 함께 참여하는 수요일 유스 모임을 인도하고 있습니다.   주님께서 저를 전임사역으로 부르셨고, 미국안에서나 해외에서, 교회 개척, 부흥을 위해서 교회/목회 사역으로 섬기기 원하는 소원과 은사들을 주셨습니다.   주제: “두렵고 떨림으로” 빌립보서 2:2:12-13 장소: Camp Oak Hill and Retreat Center 1528 State Rd 1410, Oxford, NC 27565
