I was looking at my calendar the other day and realized that it has already been one year since I gave my first sermon as an interim preacher for Hanmaum youth group last May!
Announcements:
Promotion Sunday this year is June 11th. This means that on June 11th, all youth students will move up to their new classes in their assigned grades for the 2023-2024 school year. The new assignments for classes are as listed below:

Rising 6th grade students should go directly to room 302 to meet 박주화 선생님 at 11:30am.
Raising Leaders
I believe that one of the biggest responsibilities that God has given the church is to raise up leaders that will be a blessing to the world. In youth group students learn to lead by serving others. I am grateful to the many youth students have been serving the youth group diligently in praise team and the SALT (Servants And Leaders Team). They have been a great encouragement and joy to work with in my first year with the youth group. With the graduation of the seniors and transition into the next school year we will be recruiting new leaders and renewing leadership covenants. Those who are interested should contact myself, Danny 전도사님 directly. Because we know that our students have such busy schedules, I will not assume that those currently serving will be automatically available to serve again in the next year. Therefore, current members of praise team and SALT should renew their leadership agreements as well. SALT is open to rising sophomores and above, while praise team is open to all students. Please encourage and support your children in learning to serve God.

Our summer youth retreat dates have been determined. Please make plans to send your students with us to Camp Oak Hill for this summer’s youth retreat. More details to come. |
Prayer Requests
- I am currently writing this newsletter from the hospital delivery room. Please pray for my wife and I as we process the loss of our baby girl, 조소중.
- This past Sunday the youth teachers reflected and discussed on the past year with their students and what they felt were the greatest needs for their classes. Many teachers expressed concern that the students were distracted – both situationally distracted (phone use during Sunday school class and worship) and spiritually distracted (living aimlessly without connection to God’s mission). Please pray for your children and for their teachers to have wisdom in how we should encourage ourselves to live gospel-centered lives.
- The youth group is in desperate need for volunteers for Sunday school teaching, for chaperoning the youth retreat, and for the upcoming lock-in. Please pray that God will provide workers for his harvest.

7학년 반 배정에 대하여는 11일 전에 카카오를 통하여 부모님들께 자녀들이 어느 반인지 알려 드릴 것입니다. 이번 해 6학년으로 올라오는 학생들은 11:30에 302호, 박준화 선생님 반으로 직접 가시게 됩니다.
리더 양성하기
하나님께서 교회에 주신 가장 중요한 일들 중 하나가 이 세상에 축복이 되는 리더들을 양성하는 것이라고 생각합니다. 저희 유스 그룹에서 학생들이 다른 사람들을 섬김을 통해서 리더가 되는 것을 배웁니다. 찬양팀을 통해서, SALT 리더쉽을 통해서 저희 유스 그룹을 열심히 섬기고 있는 학생들에게 감사하는 마음입니다. 제가 처음 한 해를 전도사로 섬기면서, 이 학생들과 함께 섬기는 것이 큰 격려와 기쁨이 되었습니다. 이제 12학년들이 졸업하고, 학생들이 새로운 학년으로 올라가면서, 새로운 리더들을 모집하고 리더쉽 서약을 갱신할 것입니다. 관심 있는 학생들은 저 (대니 전도사)에게 직접 연락하면 됩니다. 학생들의 스케줄이 바쁜 것을 알기에, 현재 리더쉽으로 섬기고 있는 학생들이 내년에 자동적으로 또 섬기지 못할 수도 있습니다. 그래서, 현재 찬양팀과 SALT 리더쉽은 서약을 갱신하게 됩니다. SALT 리더쉽은 10학년 이상이 섬길 수 있고, 찬양팀은 모든 학년들이 다 섬길 수 있습니다. 부모님들께서, 학생들이 하나님을 섬기는 것을 배울 수 있도록 격려해 주시고 도와 주시길 부탁드립니다.

기도제목
- 저는 지금 이 뉴스레터를 저희 아기를 낳기 위한 병원 방에서 쓰고 있습니다. 저희 부부가 저희 딸, 조소중,을 보내고, 치유되는 과정을 위해서 기도 부탁드립니다.
- 5월 마지막 주일에, 유스 선생님들이 지난해를 돌아보며, 각 반에 가장 필요한 것이 무엇인지 상의하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 대부분의 선생님들이 학생들이 산만 (distracted)한 것에 대해서 나누었습니다. 예배 중이나 성경공부 시간에 전화기 사용, 또는 영적으로 산만함(하나님의 사명에 관심이 없고, 목적없이 사는 삶)이 변화되기 원하는 부분들입니다. 자녀들을 위해서 이러한 부분을 위해서 기도해 주시고, 또한 선생님들이 학생들을 복음중심적인 삶을 살도록 잘 격려할 수 있는 지혜를 가질 수 있도록 기도 부탁드립니다.
- 유스 그룹에 선생님으로 자원 봉사하실 분, 여름 수련회에 보호자로 함께 가실 분, 곧 있을 Lock-in에 함께 도와 주실분들이 절실하게 필요합니다. 하나님께서 도우실 분들을 보내주시도록 기도 부탁드립니다.
