Sermon Title: “Loving Nineveh”
Jonah 4
Main Point of the Message: God's people are given new life so that we can take part in God's mission
-
Act 1: The Big Head and Small Heart of an Angry Man (v1-4)
Jonah had Bible _knowledge and right _beliefs, but did not understand God’s __heart_.
-
Act 2: The Rise and Fall of a Leafy Vine at the hands of the Sovereign God (v5-9)
God provided _a plant to grow_
God provided __a worm to chew the plant_
God provided __a hot wind to blow_
These provisions highlight the fact that God is _sovereign_.
-
Act 3: Our Sovereign God’s Concern for the Lost (v10,11)
God loves _Nineveh_.
Who are some groups of people that I interact with in my school or neighborhood that may be surprised to learn that God loves them?
Memory Verse
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. Romans 1:16-17
