Dear Church ,
I don’t think I’ve experienced a Summer vacation fly by quite as quickly as the one we just experienced. Thank you all for your patience and support as I have been growing into my role as Interim youth pastor.
I was blessed to be able to spend some precious time with the youth students on their 2022 Summer Retreat. The theme was ‘Spiritual Living’ and our guest speaker Josh Dickens was able to spend the four worship sessions we had together share the gospel with great clarity and conviction. As the weeks afterwards unfold, I pray that we will be able to see and cultivate more of the fruit of God’s work in our hearts from the retreat.
In addition, throughout the summer, we have been meeting every Friday for a time of Fellowship and Prayer. These meetings will come to an end. Now that school is starting back up, we will scale this event down to just 1 time per month.
In the upcoming weeks, we are expecting families who have recently moved to the area to come visit our church. It can be difficult and scary to be ‘the new kid’ at any gathering, so the student leaders and I are making it a priority to show them Jesus’ love through our fellowship.
As our kids go back to school life, let us pray for them to be steadfast witnesses for the gospel in their friend-groups and sports teams. To that end, I encourage the parents to help teach their children how to foster relationships with non-believing friends in order to make disciples, just as Jesus promised to empower us to do. Please pray for me as well, as I will be taking several classes at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary this semester as I continue to serve the children.
